Project Overview
Chubtrav Primary School, located in Chubtrav Village, Varin Commune, Varin District, Siem Reap Province, serves approximately 200 children from a rural community where access to quality educational resources remains limited. Situated about 109 kilometers from Siem Reap City, the school faces ongoing challenges in providing students with adequate learning materials and a conducive environment for study. Recognizing that education is one of the most effective pathways to breaking the cycle of poverty, the 3rd Library Renovation and Improvement Project ("3rd Library Project") was launched to create an inspiring learning space that promotes literacy, creativity, and lifelong learning.
At the heart of the project is a simple yet powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and achieve their full potential. Once an aging and underutilized room, the school library has been transformed into a vibrant, child-friendly learning hub where students can explore new ideas, broaden their knowledge, and develop a lifelong love of reading. Through the dedication and hard work of youth volunteers, the library underwent extensive improvements, including wall repairs, floor tiling, interior painting, and the addition of colorful educational artwork designed to create an engaging and motivating learning environment. Beyond the physical renovation, the project has significantly enhanced the library’s educational resources. The facility is now equipped with new bookshelves, reading tables, comfortable floor cushions, and hundreds of carefully selected books. The collection includes storybooks, history and geography references, bilingual books, STEM-related materials, and a variety of other learning resources that support both academic achievement and personal development.
More than just a renovation project, the 3rd Library Project represents a story of hope, compassion, and collective action. Youth volunteers generously contributed their time, skills, and energy to bring meaningful educational opportunities to children in a remote community. Their commitment demonstrates the remarkable impact that youths can make when united by a shared vision of social change. Inspired by this effort, our partners and supporters have joined the initiative, recognizing that even a single contribution can help transform a child's educational journey and create pathways to a brighter future.
Today, the library stands as a symbol of opportunity and empowerment. It reflects the collective belief that education has the power to change lives by expanding horizons, building confidence, and enabling children to dream beyond the limitations of their circumstances. Through this project, Chubtrav Primary School now offers its students not only a better place to learn, but also a stronger foundation for a more promising future.
